Kristina Urquhart is a Toronto-based editor, journalist, publishing professional and founder who specializes in content strategy and development for niche audiences. Her versatile writing style makes any topic fair game, but she holds particular expertise in the areas of business, technology, industry, resale and design.
As a third-generation entrepreneur, Kristina’s seen firsthand the power of small businesses to make a difference in their local communities. With her own “side hustle” The Vintage Seeker, she’s proud to have developed a social enterprise that provides a platform for independent shop owners.
Career
Kristina is an award-winning editor, writer and publisher based in Toronto, Canada.
Armed with curiosity and a wide range of interests, Kristina has been developing content and hosting events for niche audiences across a multitude of sectors including the arts, design, manufacturing, technology, higher education and retail sectors since 2007. A Carleton University journalism graduate, she is passionate about building high-value multi-channel programming that contributes to market growth.
Kristina is also founder of The Vintage Seeker, an independent platform that provides insight and resources for vintage dealers, independent resellers, thrifters and secondhand shoppers in North America, and the Shop Secondhand Directory, which connects consumers with more than 8,800 vendors to consumers.
Her publishing resume includes editorships at Annex Business Media, where she directed content for the Manufacturing AUTOMATION and Pulp & Paper Canada brands, and at Applied Arts, where she served advertising, graphic design and image-making professionals.
Career highlights include covering the lead-up to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, relaunching Applied Arts magazine with a new content strategy and visual identity, programming the Applied Arts Creative Futures Expo, co-editing the annual Women in Forestry program at Annex Business Media, and creating a first-to-market professional development group for vintage dealers.
Kristina’s market commentary has been featured by CBC, The Globe and Mail, TVO's The Agenda with Steve Paikin, Global News and CityNews, among others.
Kristina holds a Bachelor of Journalism (High Honours) with a minor in English Language & Literature from Carleton University. She is a Certified Copy Editor and member of Editors Canada.
